Tale # 12 - Prepping for Spring!

IMG 2196 min

If you reside close to our upper Midwest hometown, you’ve probably noticed the days getting a little longer, the sun getting a little warmer, and the salt and slush slowly disappearing from the streets. These are small but significant signs that riding season is fast approaching. Hallelujah!

But before you jump into the saddle and rev the engine, there are a few important things to check off your list:

The Bike Scan: Basically, take a peek at every part of your motorcycle. Tire pressure may have changed over the winter months. Check that the headlight and brake light still light up. Inspect the chain and all cables to make sure everything is connected properly. Test the battery and make sure it is charged and holding power. Think of this as an all-points inspection.

Consider Fresh Oil: Can you remember the last time you changed it? And while we’re on the subject, how about the other fluids on the bike? An oil change and a check of brake fluid and coolant are highly recommended before you set out on that first Spring ride.

Soap and Water: Bikes tend to get dusty as they sit over the winter…and let’s be honest, maybe it was a little grimey when you put it away last year. Time to give her the shine she deserves. A clean bike will run more smoothly and just look that much cooler as you dive into a turn in the sunshine.

Update Your Gear: Try everything on. Boots have rip or hole? Helmet dinged up? Gloves worn out? Now is the time to freshen up your riding kit. What other time do you get to purchase clothing that can not only make you feel like a million bucks, but can protect you from injury! Sully’s would love to help you get properly outfitted this year so you can ride in style AND safety.

Get Inspired: Our motto is “Inspire the Ride” and we mean it. Find a sense of adventure, join a group ride, map out a new route, take a day trip to a state park, ride to a destination restaurant or concert. Let this be a season of exploration; a time to put the screens away and enjoy the outdoors. Twist the throttle and see where the open road takes you.

We’ll see you out there.
